FAQ
What is life coaching with Dr. Anita?
Coaching is distinct from therapy, although admittedly, there is some overlap. Coaching is about moving forward by identifying strengths and addressing the weaknesses and blind spots that hold us back. My goal is to help you OVERCOME and ACHIEVE.
Therapy tends to be problem-focused and often results in a diagnosis of an emotional or mental health condition. As a result, therapy can focus a lot on your past and how those issues influence your current situation. Sometimes these issues are relevant in coaching, but they are not the primary attention point.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies tremendously from client to client. The minimum time frame is about six months. On average, my clients work with me for around 18-20 months. I have several clients with whom I have been working off and on for many years. We work together to reach certain goals for approximately nine months, then the client takes a break for several months, and then returns to work on the next stage of goals.
Most of my clients find having my trusted advice to be so valuable that they maintain monthly coaching sessions, even after they achieve their main objectives.
How do I know if I'm ready for life coaching?
If you realize that you have reached some barrier or limitation and you don’t know how to overcome it, you are a good candidate for coaching.
If you are tired of struggling, of spending lots of time just getting through the day without a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction, contentment, or peace, it’s time to reach out for help.
Your life does NOT need to be empty, overwhelming, or depressing. You may have faced genuinely challenging, highly stressful or even traumatic events. This does not mean you have to exist with continued discouragement and dullness.
Are you ready? The only way to know is to find out. That’s why I offer a NO-OBLIGATION, COMPLEMENTARY DISCOVERY SESSION. We will chat for about 45 minutes and find out if we are a good fit or not.
Who is NOT a candidate for life coaching?
Sometimes a person needs more support than virtual coaching can provide. If you have issues that require emergent or urgent help from your professional, then you would be a better candidate for licensed mental health care.
Because I have retired my license, my practice is not suited to handle client emergencies.
If your primary issues involve marital/intimate relationships, I am not a good fit for you. Couples counselors are your best option.

What should I expect?
You can expect to focus on YOU. You can expect me to ask you questions so I can find out what your goals, hopes, and dreams are, where you have found success, and where you bump up against obstacles.
Occasionally, I ask clients to complete online assessments to give us more information. Often, these assessments are FREE, but some do require an extra fee.
The goal is to develop self-awareness of how you experience and process the events of your life, keep the strategies that work, and develop new strategies that better serve your progress and future success.
What is the investment cost?
I offer monthly coaching packages based on the frequency of our virtual sessions.
A session generally lasts one hour, and most clients start with weekly sessions for the first few months and then taper to every other week.

Unlike most other coaches, I do NOT require a minimum number of sessions. You and I simply continue to meet weekly or bi-weekly until you have reached your goals or until we have completed the extent of our work together.
